Can this be paired with any other prescription antifungal?
Absolutely. Our products are all-natural and effective on their own, and they can also be combined with prescription or chemical treatments. Keep in mind though, oils will feed the fungus so make sure that any other treatment you use is free of oils. The only safe oils for people with excess malassezia fungus are MCT oil, squalane oil, and essential oils.
Is it safe to use on bright colored hair/dyed/chemical treated(keratin)??
Yes, both the Scalp Therapy Shampoo and Calming Seborrheic Serum are designed to be color safe. While we have not conducted a certified color-safe test, none of the ingredients are known for bleaching or disrupting the color of hair. Plenty of our customers with colored hair have reported great results with no discoloration at all. There are also a number of hair stylists in the Dermazen community who recommend these products on a regular basis.
When and how should I use the serum?
We recommend applying the serum at night before bed. You can apply it to your scalp the night before you wash your hair or leave it on between washes. We suggest washing it out in the morning since some customers experience build-up if left in too long. You can also use it as a leave-in during the day, but results vary. Everyone's experience is different, so feel free to create your own routine based on what works best for you.
Can Dermazen serum be used on the skin and scalp?
YES! In fact it is best for scalp but also effective for the face, ears, and chest
Are your products vegetarian or vegan?
Dermazen products are 100% vegan and cruelty free. We're still in the process of obtaining the official vegan and cruelty-free certifications, but our products do not contain any ingredients derived from animals and they are not tested on animals (besides consenting homo sapiens). 🙂
Is it ok that I should use the serum everyday?
The frequency of use usually depends on the user. Some are comfortable using it everyday, while some do use it every other day in tandem with MCT oil.
Are your ingredients 'curly girl approved'?
Yes! A lot of curly haired members of the community swear by the products’ effectiveness. If you are interested you can visit the reviews section to see the reviews they've given and see for yourself.
Does this product contain any steroids?

I think I have contact dermatitis and top of the tinea versicolor – is it ok to still use the serum?
The serum was made for people with seborrheic dermatitis, but we have heard from several people who have successfully used it to calm their contact dermatitis. Also many of the ingredients have been shown to improve the symptoms of Tinea versicolor on their own, so we recommend giving it a try.
