Why Dermazen for your scalp

Clinically studied. Dermatologist evaluated.*

Dermazen completed an independent 4-week clinical study conducted by Citruslabs, a third-party research organization, including dermatologist evaluation of before and after scalp photos.

  • 92% reported reduction in flakiness / dandruff after 4 weeks*

  • 92% reported their scalp feeling calmer and more soothed after 4 weeks*

  • 77% showed dermatologist-confirmed improvement in scalp health*

  • 84% said they would recommend the product to a friend*

*In a 4-week open-label, single-group clinical consumer perception study conducted by Citruslabs (n=27 test subjects. 18 and over.). Results based on participant self-report unless noted as dermatologist-confirmed. Dermatologist-confirmed results are based on dermatologist evaluation of before and after scalp photos. Individual results may vary.

No harsh sulfates

No SLS, SLES, or other harsh sulfates like the ones in many dandruff shampoos. Gentle plant-based cleansers support the scalp barrier instead of stripping it, so you can wash without the dryness and tightness harsh shampoos can cause.

No heavy oils

No heavy oils, waxes, or butters. Popular oils like coconut, olive, and argan contain oleic acid, which research links to scalp barrier disruption. We use only two lightweight lipids, C8/C10 MCT and squalane.

No steroids

No steroids in any formula. Every product is a gentle cosmetic formula, made for daily use on seborrheic dermatitis-prone scalps.

Stays on long enough to work

A rinse-off shampoo gets about two minutes on your scalp. The Calming Seborrheic Serum stays on for 8 or more hours overnight, long enough to clear away buildup while soothing your scalp.

Build your scalp routine

  1. In the shower. Wash with Scalp Therapy Shampoo and work it through with the Silicone Scalp Scrubber. Follow with Nourishing Conditioner.

  2. At night. Apply Calming Seborrheic Serum directly to the scalp before bed. It stays on for 8 or more hours and works while you sleep.

  3. Day to day. Use MCT Scalp Moisturizer whenever the scalp feels dry, tight, or itchy. It also works as a daily leave-on, especially for textured hair.

  4. Want it all in one box? The Scalp Relief System puts the core scalp routine together at a bundle price.

Take the Skin & Scalp Quiz

What shampoo should I use if my scalp feels itchy and flaky?

Look for a shampoo without harsh sulfates like sodium lauryl sulfate. Harsh cleansers can strip the scalp's protective barrier, which can leave it drier and more reactive with each wash. Scalp Therapy Shampoo cleans with gentle plant-based surfactants and uses apple cider vinegar and willow bark extract to help soften and lift away buildup.

Why do flakes come back so quickly after washing?

Two common reasons. First, a layer of oil, dead skin, and product residue builds up at the scalp surface, and most shampoos were never designed to fully remove it. Second, a rinse-off shampoo only gets about two minutes of contact time before it goes down the drain. Leave-on formulas like the Calming Seborrheic Serum stay on the scalp for 8 or more hours instead.

Are these products right for seborrheic dermatitis-prone scalps?

Dermazen products are cosmetics formulated for seborrheic dermatitis-prone skin. They are designed to support how the scalp looks and feels: clearing buildup, soothing visible irritation, and supporting the skin barrier. They are not drugs and do not treat medical conditions. For diagnosis or medical treatment, talk to a dermatologist.

What is the difference between the serum and the shampoo?

The shampoo is a rinse-off cleanser for the shower. The serum is a leave-on formula you apply at night. Used together, the shampoo clears the day's oil and residue, and the serum works overnight with 8 or more hours of contact time.

Are natural oils like coconut oil good for a flaky scalp?

Not always. Oils like coconut, olive, and argan contain oleic acid, a long-chain fatty acid that research links to scalp barrier disruption. For reactive scalps, some of the most popular natural oils can worsen the flake cycle rather than breaking it. Dermazen formulas use only C8/C10 MCT and squalane, two lightweight lipids chosen for scalp compatibility.

How soon do people notice a difference?

In a 4-week clinical study, there was a significant improvement in the appearance of flakiness, redness, and scale buildup after 1 week.* Results build with consistent use. (*4-week clinical study, n=27. Individual results may vary.)

What order should I use the scalp products in?

Shampoo and scrubber in the shower, conditioner after, serum at night, and the MCT moisturizer during the day as needed. For a routine matched to your skin and scalp, take the Skin & Scalp Quiz.
